Advanced Placement and Other College Credit
If you have taken Advanced Placement (AP) or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, or have participated in an International Baccalaureate (IB) program or Cambridge (AICE) program in your high school, you might be eligible to earn credit hours at Creighton. We will also grant credit for many college courses you took before you came to Creighton.
While each undergraduate college at Creighton treats these college credits a little differently, below you will find the general guidelines for accepting credit from outside sources. For more information, please contact the college of your intended major.
Advanced Placement (AP)
Creighton participates fully in the Advanced Placement Program of the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB). We will award credit for a number of courses if your AP Exam scores meet the criteria set by our departments. If you want us to consider your scores for course credit, please have CEEB send the scores directly to Creighton University, code 6121.
To decline AP credit, download the UG Request to Decline Credit (.pdf).

A number of high schools participate in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. Creighton University acknowledges the quality of the IB Diploma Program, and grants academic credit based on a student's scores on the higher level examinations. IB Diploma recipients may receive up to 30 hours of college course credit. The table below includes detailed information about the credits that will be awarded.
*NOTE: Course numbers followed by asterisks are courses that do not satisfy core curriculum requirements in these subject areas.
College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
You can also earn credit for some Creighton courses by completing a CLEP exam in the subject. CLEP exams are offered several times each year in the Omaha area. Read the College of Arts and Sciences' CLEP Guidelines (.pdf) to learn more about CLEP and learn how your CLEP scores are interpreted for credit.
Transfer Credit
Creighton may also award credit toward your degree for college courses you completed successfully (with a grade of C- or better) at another accredited institution. We award credit only after we have received an official transcript from the college or university where you took the course. The transcripts can be sent to the college of your intended major.
