Cortina Community - Community. Service. Faith. Justice.Fr. Jon Cortina, S.J.

The Cortina Community is a service-learning, living-learning program for selected sophomore students based on four distinct values: Community. Service. Faith. Justice.. The 28 women & 28 men living on 5th floor McGloin Hall will engage in weekly service, service-learning courses, and reflection in a communal setting.

The Cortina Community is named after the Rev. Jon Cortina, S.J.
His love of God and people encourages students to integrate service, faith, justice, simplicity and community into life choices and commitments. His example calls all of us to live authentic lives of faith, and be women and men for others.

Cortina Community is a collaborative program sponsored by the Creighton Center for Service and Justice (CCSJ), Academic Affairs, and the Department of Residence Life. It is inspired by the words of Rev. Peter-Hans Kolvenbach, S.J., Superior General of the Society of Jesus,  to "educate the whole person of solidarity for the real world."   This initiative can be characterized as a communal, living-learning experience; rooted in the Ignatian tradition of the service of faith and the promotion of justice. The Cortina Community is a part of the Sophomore Program.
