Environmental Health & Safety
"It is the policy of Creighton University to provide a safe and healthy environment for all faculty, employees, students, and visitors to campus. The safety and health of our community is imperative in light of our desire for the highest possible quality of life on campus. Under no circumstances will campus safety be ignored or diminished in importance in favor of other financial or cultural priorities. Safety and health issues on campus, and in every facility, will receive a high priority and all safety and health hazards that are discovered will be addressed and corrected without delay."

Mercury Reduction Program
We will be replacing all mercury thermometers and thermostats in labs, in our clinics, and in other locations on campus with comparable non-mercury devices. Additionally, we will remove all mercury-containing sphygmomanometers from our Creighton Medical Associates clinics and other locations on campus. Further, we will exchange all mercury-containing fever thermometers from the homes of Creighton employees for new digital fever thermometers. We will also accept any mercury-containing thermostats, although we can not offer one in exchange.
Please go to our mercury reduction page for more information and to fill out a form to get your mercury-containing item removed!
UPDATE: Two more exchange dates have been planned for January.
Wednesday, January 14 Student Center 209 11 am - 1 pm
Tuesday, January 20 Harper Center 2066 11 am - 1 pm
This project was undertaken in connection with the settlement of an enforcement action taken by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for violations of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. 42 U.S.C. §6901 et. seq.
