Department Overview
The Department of Educational Opportunity Programs (DEOP) is a sub-unit of the Division of Academic Affairs. It is an administrative branch that provides coordination, leadership, development, assessment, and supervision for six grant programs and University services for students with disabilities. The six grant programs include five federally-funded TRIO programs (Classic Upward Bound, Educational Opportunity Center, Educational Talent Search, Student Support Services, and Upward Bound Math & Science Center) and the Health Careers Opportunity Program.
These programs and the Office of Disability Support Services play an integral role in fulfilling Creightons mission and the nations commitment to providing college access and educational opportunities to Americans who are traditionally under-represented in or insufficiently prepared for higher education. The TRIO programs and the Health Careers Opportunity Program typically serve students/adults who are low-income individuals according to federal income guidelines, potential first-generation college graduates, and demonstrate need for academic support services. Finally, EOP contributes to national recruitment, retention, and graduation efforts of students from all ethnic, socio-economic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
