ADA Meeting - October 28th, 2004

 

Members Present: John Baxter, Barbara Brock, Ann Ryan Haddad, Bill Hill, Teresa Lynch, Amy Mathews, Mark Panning, Wade Pearson, Cathy Pedersen, Lennis Pederson, Rich Rossi

 

Unable to Attend: Andrew Akright, Amy Bones, Andrea Jahn, Rebecca Pettit, John Pierce

 

Minutes: September 30, 2004 meeting minutes were approved by Bill Hill and Seconded by Mark Panning

 

Barbara Brock was welcomed to the Committee as a new member replacing Kathryn Thomas.

 

Discussion about the ADA booth at the Benefits Fair included more before and after photographs of architectural barrier removal to help with the display.

 

The members decided to meet December 2, 2004, to combine the November and December meeting. The meeting time remains at 9:30 A.M.

 

Mark Panning lead a committee conversation about the web site being developed for the ADA Committee.

 

John Baxter and Bill Hill spoke about their efforts to expand the all campus new employee orientation. The Committee encouraged John and Bill to work an ADA presence into the orientation schedule.

 

The Committee agreed to work toward the objective of an April ADA Awareness Fair. Wade, Bill, Rich and Lennis will start the planning process.

 

Chuck Lenosky will be invited to the January 2005 meeting to discuss accessibility for all in the classrooms. The objective being to develop a design standard.

 

There was a brief conversation about the importance of not inflating the performance review. Reference was made to the October 2004 ADA Compliance Guide issue.

 

Meeting adjourned at 10:30 A.M.

 

The next meeting will be at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday, December 2nd, 2004 in the Swanson Hall Technology Room. Part of the agenda will be to view the training video entitled "The ADA and Disability Law".
