Minutes: The December 8, 2005 meeting minutes were approved by Barb Brock and Seconded by Mark Panning.

The Committee welcomed Jeff Branstetter and Stacy Peitz as new members. Mr. Branstetter will be replacing Bill Hill. The Committee recognized Bill Hill as a hard working, dedicated and passionate member of the team and thanked him for all his good work done for the Committee.

Mark Panning gave an update on technology available in communication devices that “ride” on an IP standard platform. The new technology is very accessible for individuals with needs. Mark shared a handout from Cisco Systems.

Stacy Peitz spoke about SEN wanting to update the accessibility video. The ADA Committee offered to help if there was a need. The filming is anticipated to be accomplished in March/April.

Jeff Branstetter will follow up with Bill Hill and Bobbi Cordano to learn the status of the Corano video presentation. The goal is to have the video available at the March committee meeting.

Lennis Pederson informed the group that only one of three architectural firms invited to conduct an ADA compliance review of the campus architecture responded. The next action will be to secure funding for the study.

Wade Pearson told the Committee that Scott Chadwick is very willing to help with ADA Awareness as part of this faculty development theme. This coincides with the work being accomplished by Cathy Pedersen and Barb Brock that involves University College presenting an employee development program about ADA awareness sometime in Fall, 2006.

Mark Panning has had contact with the Red Dogs basketball team and with Creighton basketball coaches. The program is still evolving but there is a possibility of the Red Dogs performing as an ADA Committee sponsored activity at a Women’s basketball game. The exhibition would be brief. A potential date for the event is March 2, 2006. Mark will keep the group informed. If the activity goes well, the Committee will contemplate a more involved activity during the next basketball season.

The Committee is planning its next Symposium to be October 5, 2006 in the Student Center. Plans for the program will be developed around the date.

Rich Rossi informed the group that the Creighton University Health Fair will be October 24 and 25, 2006. Save the date so the Committee can staff a booth again.

The meeting adjourned at 10:25 A.M.

The next meeting is scheduled for February 23, 2006 to discuss grant potentials.
