Minutes: The March 29, 2007 meeting minutes were approved by Jeff Branstetter and seconded by Mark Panning.

Mark Panning distributed the goals and objectives for the ADA Committee. The Committee accepted the goals and objectives including the assignment of the individuals to the objectives. Rich Rossi suggested that the SEN Representative by always on the task group working on the Symposium/Forum. Each group/task force is asked to meet before the May committee meeting and at least select a leader. If a copy of the goals and objectives are needed, please call Mark.

George McNary talked about having multiple sites for the October venue rather than only presenting in the Student Center. It is thought that having one preventative in CUMC would work. One of the times for the October event would be through the noon hour. The presentations would be about 90 minutes.

Announcing the event with an endorsement by the President is desired. Communicating the event time and content well in advance of October event is seen as very important.

A quick survey to define the topic for the October event and to be used in the spring will be sent to the campus. The plan is to define the topic by the May meeting. Each Committee member is asked to e-mail George with a topic item to be included in the survey.

The Committee discussed the recent shootings at Virginia Tech to help better identify the role of the ADA Committee in preventing such an event at Creighton. The consensus was that despite the vulnerability, there should be a posture of "wait and see" so others around the Nation can develop the models.

Laura Mann and Lennis Pederson recapped the recent audio conference that Amy Bones and they attended. The topic was about the role of the Disabilities Service Office and how faculty are informed about students with needs. Also discussed was the need for faculty to inform student with needs that they must disclose in order to receive reasonable accommodation. The slide presentation prepared for the audio conference was presented with penned notes picked up during the conference.
