Rich Rossi reported there will be a small increase in the number of students with needs this coming fall over pas years. Most are not physical disabilities. The start of school will likely find more students disclosing their needs because that is a typical scenario.

The meeting on September 25th will be a walking tour. Adjust your calendars now for an extended time slot. It is expected to be done with the tour/lunch/agenda by 12:45.

Rich Rossi informed the group that the task force working on grants applications is finding more opportunity for program grants as compared to grants for facility improvements. No applications for grants are being made at this time.

The Committee decided to present the ADA Symposium on October 4th in CUMC and October 8th in the Skutt Student Center Ballroom. The October 8th event would start at 11:00 or 11:30 with a box lunch available to all attendees. Stacy Kokesh had written prior to the meeting that SEN would make a presentation at both events. Details of the symposium agenda are being developed around the theme of elderly care. Video taping the presentations is desirable. Timing of the October 4th presentation remains open but may be earlier in the morning. Kathryn has arranged for the Besack room all day on Oct 8 so options are available. Each day’s presentations would be three hours or less in length. Having a vendor fair on Oct 8 is being considered.

Lennis Pederson distributed a list of physical enhancements completed by Purchasing and Facilities Management during fiscal year 06/07. The list included space upgrades, architectural barrier removal and furniture acquisition.

Amy Bones affirmed that the voluntary self identification and reasonable accommodation request from would be posted on the Human Resources web site soon. She will be working with Mark Panning to have the form linked to the ADA web site.

Meeting adjourned at 10:30 A.M.

The next meeting is on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the Swanson Hall Technology Room.
