Update on students and survey/ research projects. (Amy)

 

 

Two groups of occupational therapy students have volunteered to work on the ADA survey as their research project.  Amy will invite the two student groups to the Jan. meeting. 

 

 

 

 

 

Report on WinAhead Fall Conference (Denise)

 

 

History of Disability Services

 

 

Denise feels we are doing a great job keeping abreast of issues.   Basic guidelines for effective services:  Do we have a procedure and process and are we following it re housing, food, the gamut.  

 

 

 

 

 

ADA Website Planning (Amy and Mark)

 

 

Jeff suggested we make it as easy as possible for someone to access the site.   Access on the front page. 

 

 

Izzy suggested we do a video/ picture re how to get to the accessible entrance forbuildings.  Mark showed that we do have a map where you can plot paths. 

 

 

Focus on bullet points/ clean pages in ADA web pages.

 

 

Committee members volunteered to assess pages of the site and compare to other university sites and bring back ideas for our site.

New business

 

 

Jeff brought an example of the voluntary self-identification survey for employees, explained that the survey is required by the government and asked that the committee help write a survey that fits Creighton.

Goal #1: PROMOTE EDUCATION AND AWARENESS OF DISABILITY ACCOMMODATION

 

 

 

  1. Committee member training program – annually in September – including

Goal #3: COLLECT DATA REGARDING ADA RELATED ISSUES ON CAMPUS TO INFORM ACTIVITIES

 

 

 

  1. Complete a campus wide employee survey regarding general ADA/ access knowledge every 3-5 years.

 

 

 

  1. Develop an anonymous response survey tool to virtually dialogue with disabled campus persons; faculty, staff and students. 

 

 

 

  1. Review information from OT student activities as submitted to the ADA committee.

 

 

 

  1. Tour buildings on campus yearly to identify potential ADA related issues.
