Creighton University is a community of students, scholars, staff and administrators. We all study and work in a defined space in downtown and west Omaha made up of classrooms, libraries, offices, laboratories and clinics. We work hard to construct new sustainable buildings, to recondition legacy structures to make them more ecologically friendly and to maintain a healthful sustainable environment, both outdoors and in, with sustainable plantings, inviting natural environments (albeit within a city structure) and to work in spaces with proper lighting and environmental control. Our campus with its buildings is our classroom -- giving us exercises in acquiring new building materials and plant specimens, utilizing new structures properly and upgrading older structures while maintain their historical worth and beauty. In this we all both learn and teach one another.
We invite you to take a look at what we're doing to make our buildings sustainable.
We have fully implemented our green cleaning practices here at the University. “Green Cleaning” means cleaning using environmentally friendly ingredients and chemicals for household, industrial and commercial cleaning. Green cleaning products do not contain chemically reactive and toxic components that can emit volatile organic compounds or be absorbed through the skin, which can cause respiratory and other adverse health problems. Green chemicals help make the custodians and everyone on campus safer.
