Creighton University is located slightly to the north of the heart of the older urban center of Omaha. We live in a large, sprawling Midwestern urban city. While the city works to encourage the western, northern and southern diaspora to return to urban living, Creighton's challenge is to work on strategies for sustainable transportation strategies for students, faculty and staff located in all parts of Omaha, outlying suburbs and across the Missouri river in Iowa. Creighton also sends students and staff all over the country on service trips as well as to scholarly conferences. We are organizing car pools and encouraging bicycle commuting as the city constructs safe bicycle lanes, as well as making all aware that transportation is not simply the price of gasoline but also is made up of social and ecological costs. We use our particular geographical and social situation as a living laboratory as we strive to make the transportation needs of the University more sustainable.
We support a robust shuttle system that transports students, faculty, and staff around campus and to the nearby neighborhoods.
Zipcars available on campus!
Creighton is now an affiliate of the Zipcar program! Rent a car for an hour or two -- it's available for students (even if you're under 21!), staff, and faculty. Read more on our page about the Zipcar or go straight to Zipcar's site to get started. http://zipcar.com/creighton
