Do students have to pay to go to the basketball games?

Students are admitted free of charge to all Division I regular regular athletic events hosted by Creighton, including basketball.

Does Creighton have an active intramural sports program?

About 40% of the Creighton students are involved in intramural sports, including flag football, basketball, volleyball, racquetball and ultimate frisbee--adding up to hundreds of intramural teams.

Do you offer opportunities for students to get involved in providing service to others?

Yes, grounded in Creighton's Jesuit tradition, the Creighton Center for Service and Justice offers many opportunities for involvement in service ranging from service trips to daily local volunteer opportunities. This involvement can range from a nursing home to a day care to a church.

Are students required to live on campus?

All full-time unmarried, undergraduate students from outside the immediate Omaha area are required to live in University residence halls during their first two years at Creighton. Students from the Omaha area may live on campus, but they may instead choose to live with a parent or guardian.

Are there on-campus jobs for student who don't qualify for work study?

Yes, even if you do not qualify for work study, you will still have an opportunity to obtain an on-campus job. Having an on-campus job is a great way to earn some spending money and more easily fit working into your academic schedule.

Are your athletic teams successful?

At Creighton, we have 14 Division I sports teams.

Both Creighton's men and women's soccer teams have enjoyed successful seasons in the recent years. In the 2008 season, the men's team won the regular season title, and in 2007 the women's team won the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship. In addition, the men's team has made 17 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

Our basketball teams have a reputation of being some of the best programs in the Midwest. In 2004, the Women's basketball team clinched the Women's National Invitational Tournament championship, making themselves the first Bluejay squad in school history to win a national post-season tournament.

The Creighton Bluejays men's basketball team has led the Missouri Valley Conference in attendance each of the last seven years, while ranking in the top-15 nationally each of the past four campaigns.During the 2006-2007 season, the Jays won the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Jays have made seven NCAA appearances in the past ten years and have set a Missouri Valley Conference record of 11 straight post-season appearances.

The Jays' home court is at the Qwest Center Omaha, which opened in October 2003. In the last two years, men's basketball games attendance ranked in the top 15 of the nation, averaging 15,333 fans, and set a Missouri Valley Conference record total of 276,000 fans.

The baseball team has also seen success in recent years. The Jays were the Missouri Valley Conference tournament champs 2007 and have made nine NCAA regional appearances.

Can I have a car on campus?

Yes, you are allowed to have a car on campus. The cost for a parking tag for 2011 - 12 is $294.

Can I select my roommate?

You can select your roommate when you fill out your Residence Hall contract. If the two of you pick each other and deposit prior to May 1, you will more than likely be matched together.

Do you offer opportunities to participate in Greek life?

For those wishing to join a nationally recognized social fraternity or sorority, there are 11 at Creighton University. Greek Life opportunities are available at Creighton University for those wishing to participate.

How do I reserve a room on campus?

Once you have been admitted to Creighton, you will receive a message asking you to reserve your spot in the freshman class and residence halls. You will need to fill out and submit this form by May 1.

How many residence halls are on campus?

There are three traditional-style halls for freshmen, three suite-style halls for sophomores and three apartment-style halls for juniors and seniors.

What comes with my room?

While the rooms are different for each hall, there are some "standard features" to the rooms. All rooms are fully air conditioned (and, of course, heated). They are all equipped with basic cable and two high speed internet lines. All rooms also have the basics: two beds, two desks, two closets, dresser space, shelf space and a sink.
