Call for Associates Program for 2013-2015

The Office for Academic Excellence and Assessment's
Associates Program for the 2013-2015 Academic Years

The Office for Academic Excellence and Assessment (AEA) is seeking three individuals to serve as Associates for the next two academic years. Associates work with AEA staff to develop and deliver individual and small group faculty/professional staff development workshops covering issues related to teaching, learning, and assessment. Associates may also facilitate workgroups on focused topics. In previous years, these workshops have included: the Collaborative Learning, Blended Learning, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, Student Reflections and Community Engagement, Assessment Certification Workshops, Grading Rubrics and other forms of Assessment, but new topics are particularly welcome.

Faculty and professional staff members are encouraged to apply to participate in this program (see application instructions below). Over the past seven years, faculty from the College of Arts & Sciences, College of Business, the School of Nursing, the School of Medicine and the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions have served as Associates.  Of particular interest to AEA are individuals with a passion for and expertise in any of the following areas:

-  Assessment of Student Learning (all phases but particular interest in mentoring assessment plans and assessment of learning outcomes via quantitative and qualitative methods)

-  Developing and Publishing Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Projects

-  Interprofessional Education and/or Interdisciplinary Studies

Associates are provided $2,000 for their professional development use in each of their two years in the program.  The AEA staff and current and past Associates will support new Associates in their efforts to develop and deliver faculty/professional staff development programming. As an Associate, you will be expected to:

-  Develop and deliver campus-wide programming each academic year.

-  Participate in monthly discussions with other Associates about teaching, learning, and assessment issues.

-  Become part of the Creighton community of teachers and scholars interested in building a culture of assessment and learner-centered teaching.

Application Instructions

Include in your application (a) a brief explanation of why you would like to be an AEA Associate for the 2013-2015 academic years and (b) identify your area(s) of interest with respect to teaching, learning, and/or assessment and/or your unique skills, talents, and programming ideas. Those areas of interest need not perfectly match AEA's targeted interests identified above. Your application should not exceed two pages of typed, double-spaced text.

The deadline for applications is 5:00 p.m., April 8, 2013.  Please submit your application as an attached Word file to Michele King. Award announcements will be made by April 25, 2013.
