1975? Le Renard et la Cigogne. Fables de La Fontaine. Black-light postcard with phosphorescent orange and chartreuse. Imprimé en France. Création Carrère. Paris: E.S. $8 from Cartophilian Collectibles, Cheshire, CT., Jan., '01.

I presume that this approach to the traditional scene is a gift of the 70's, though I have not yet tried it under ultra-violet light. The unnamed artist adds two unusual twists, literally. First the fox raises a paw to the top of his head in apparent confusion. Secondly, the fumes of the meat in the fox's jar rise up in curling fashion. Of course that printed title "Fables de La Fontaine" suggests that there is a whole accompanying series of cards out there to find!
