Imparo a Leggere

1990 Il Gatto e il Topo e altre favole. Imparo a Leggere con gli Animali. Testi di Nunzio Jacono e Vito Fortunato. Illustrazioni di Sergio e di Lorenzo Orlandi. ©1984 Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. Roma: Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. 4000 Lire in a new book store in Turin, Sept., '97.

Three fables are told here, with following nature observations for each. The title story has the cat playing dead and disguising himself as a flour sack, I believe. TB and "Il cane ubriaco" (on the dog thrown out of the banquet) are the other two stories. The traveller up in the tree is still smoking his pipe! Nifty design work moves three mice from where they are in the cover story's illustration inside the book to where they are on the cover. Apparently Mondadori went back to good texts and illustrations done in its 1984 book titled Favolepiú. There are six books in this apparently new 1990 series, "Imparo a Leggere con gli Animali."

1990 Il Lupo et la Cicogna e altre favole. Imparo a Leggere con gli Animali. Testi di Nunzio Jacono e Vito Fortunato. Illustrazioni di Sergio. ©1985 Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. Roma: Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. 4000 Lire in a new book store in Turin, Sept., '97.

Three fables are told here, with following nature observations for each. The second story is new to me, "Gusti da farfalla." Apparently the butterfly scorns the cauliflower, which reminds it that in one of its earlier stages as a caterpillar it loved cauliflower. "The Lion and the Mosquito" finishes this book's trio of stories. Apparently Mondadori went back to good texts and illustrations done in its 1985 book titled Stagioni piú. There are six books in this apparently new 1990 series, "Imparo a Leggere con gli Animali."

1990 La Formica et la Lucertola e altre favole. Imparo a Leggere con gli Animali. Testi di Nunzio Jacono e Vito Fortunato. Illustrazioni di Sergio. ©1985 Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. Roma: Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. 4000 Lire in a new book store in Turin, Sept., '97.

This book starts with "Il fringuello invadente" and moves on to "La gara è truccata." It finishes swith "Un amicizia calorosa," the title story. All three seem new to me. In the last, a lizard who likes to spend all day in the hot sun apparently has a sun-stroke! Again, the cover designer did good work putting together elements of the last story's illustration to make up a more compressed cover illustration. Apparently Mondadori went back to good texts and illustrations done in its 1985 book titled Stagioni piú. There are six books in this apparently new 1990 series, "Imparo a Leggere con gli Animali."

1990 La Marmotta e il Passero e altre favole. Imparo a Leggere con gli Animali. Testi di Nunzio Jacono e Vito Fortunato. Illustrazioni di Sergio e di Lorenzo Orlandi. ©1984 Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. Roma: Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. 4000 Lire in a new book store in Turin, Sept., '97.

Three stories are told here, with following nature observations for each. I do not recognize any of them as traditional fables. The first is "Un'arma infallibile." Apparently the other animals find that thrown burrs make great weapons against an attacking bear. In "Svegliati, marmotta!" there is a bird either feeding or doing dental work on a badger. "Una storia d'amore" seems to feature two owls and a berry-branch. Apparently Mondadori went back to good texts and illustrations done in its 1984 book titled Favolepiú. There are six books in this apparently new 1990 series, "Imparo a Leggere con gli Animali."

1990 La Tartaruga e la Lepre e altre favole.

OF and UP are the other two stories. TH's illustration takes the moment of awakening for the hare. Apparently Mondadori went back to good texts and illustrations done in its 1984 book titled Favolepiú. There are six books in this apparently new 1990 series, "Imparo a Leggere con gli Animali."

1990 Lo Scoliattolo e il Rospo e altre favole. Imparo a Leggere con gli Animali. Testi di Nunzio Jacono e Vito Fortunato. Illustrazioni di Sergio. ©1985 Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. Roma: Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. 4000 Lire in a new book store in Turin, Sept., '97.

Three selections are offered here, with following nature observations for each. The first is "L'utilità del rovo." In it, does a bear get caught in thorns while pursuing a hare? The second selection seems to be a set of riddles. The third is "Il rospo pallone." Whatever this story is, its illustration features a frog with a finger in his nose! I believe that a theatrical performance in the woods loses several of its key actors and that the frog saves the day. Apparently Mondadori went back to good texts and illustrations done in its 1985 book titled Stagioni piú. There are six books in this apparently new 1990 series, "Imparo a Leggere con gli Animali."
