Mini Fables a Colorier

2001 Le Corbeau et le Renard. La Fontaine. Paperbound. France: Mini fable à colorier: Editions MG Diffusion. €.50 from Tourism Office, Chateau-Thierry, June, '07.

The set includes sixteen pamphlets, five of which are fables. Each is 3¾" x 5½" in size, with fairly cheap paper. One holds the 32-page book in portrait fashion, with both pages exposed. The upper page contains a line or two of La Fontaine's text in a simple frame. The lower page has a picture to color. My favorites here in FC are the moment of pride for the crow, found at the very center of the pamphlet, and the moment of enjoyment for the fox on the very last page.

2001 La Cigale et la Fourmi. La Fontaine. Paperbound. France: Mini fable à colorier: Editions MG Diffusion. €.50 from Tourism Office, Chateau-Thierry, June, '07.

The upper page contains a line or two of La Fontaine's text in a simple frame. The lower page has a picture to color. My favorite here in GA is the moment when the cicada finds herself "strongly deprived." The picture shows an open refrigerator holding only an apple core and a fish skeleton! There is a little two-page puzzle near the end: "A toi de trouver les 7 erreurs." Then, on the last page, there is a labyrinth through which the cicada can get to grain.

2001 La Grenouille qui se veut fair ausse grosse que le Boeuf.

The upper page contains a line or two of La Fontaine's text in a simple frame, which here is often set badly to the right. The lower page has a picture to color. My favorites here in OF come at the center of the pamphlet. The expanding frog looks like the mascot from Michelin! There is a little two-page puzzle near the end: "A toi de trouver les 7 erreurs." Then, on the last page, there is a labyrinth through which the frog can get to the ox.

2001 Le Lièvre et la Tortue.

My favorite here in TH is the illustration of the hare coming to himself and realizing that the tortoise is about to reach the goal. Straw and glass fall from his hand.

2001 Le Loup et l'Agneau. La Fontaine. Paperbound. France: Mini fable à colorier: Editions MG Diffusion. €.50 from Tourism Office, Chateau-Thierry, June, '07.

My favorite here in WL shows the young lamb drinking from the river through a bendable straw. Another excellent image has the wolf pointing down at the lamb, whose raised face we see upside down. The artist here has the wolf jumping up and down in anger -- and thus troubling the waters -- while he reiterates nonsensically that the lamb is troubling his waters.
