Visiting the Rare Books Room

The Rare Books Room serves as the research area for the University Archives, Rare Books and Special Collections department. It is located on the main level of the Reinert-Alumni Memorial Library on the main Creighton University campus. The Rare Books Room implements open hours in two categories: research hours and viewing hours.

Research hours are intended to promote access to and use of archival, rare books and special collections. Persons who wish to access items from these collections must either attend during scheduled research hours or make an appointment with the University Archivist. Please be advised that archival and special collections will not be available to researchers unless permission for access has already been granted by the University Archivist.

Viewing hours will allow patrons to view exhibits, including the Heritage Edition of The Saint John's Bible currently on loan to Creighton University. The room will not be available for research during viewing hours.

Please note that scheduled research hours and viewing hours are currently intermittent, changing weekly while we address staffing and other needs, but will stabilize in the near future. Current hours appear in the left column on the main webpage for Rare Books.

You may wish to review the Rules of the Rare Books Room before your visit. Researchers will be required to sign a copy of the rules, which will be provided by Rare Books Room staff, before conducting research in our collections.

Directions to the Rare Books Room can be found in the Location section of our Contact Information page.
