Student Clinical Rotations
Creighton University is the primary academic partner at Valleywise Health and Dignity Health St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center.
Information below can educate individuals on the process about clinical rotation opportunities.
3rd Year Medical and Podiatry Students
Valleywise and St. Joseph’s Hospital offers 3rd year rotations to students from select schools. Placements are arranged in coordination and agreement between the academic institution and clinical department leadership. Interested students should view the Valleywise Undergraduate Medical Education website to view program requirements. Applications are submitted via Clinician Nexus.
4th Year Medical and Podiatry Students
St Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center offers 4thyear elective rotations to students throughout the United States. Students must be enrolled in an LCME or COCA-accredited school to apply. Interested students should visit the American Association of Medical College’s Visiting Student Learning Opportunities Program (VSLO) to learn more.
Valleywise’s fourth-year electives are open to students throughout the United States and the Caribbean who meet Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) requirements or equivalent. Interested students should view the Valleywise Undergraduate Medical Education website to view program requirements. Applications are submitted via Clinician Nexus.
Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner Students
Valleywise Health: Academic coordinators interested in scheduling a rotation should contact the clinical departments at Valleywise directly to inquire about availability and the scheduling process.

Nursing Students
Valleywise Health: Academic coordinators may place requests for clinical rotations for students and instructors directly into My Clinical Exchange.
Nursing students and instructors (if applicable) who are approved for clinical rotations will submit the required documentation and complete mandatory training in My Clinical Exchange
St Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center: Requests for clinical placements at SJHMC should first be emailed to AZSA-Academic Affiliations@DignityHealth.org before placing a request in My Clinical Exchange.
Pharmacy, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Learners
