Protests
There are only two types of protests that will be considered. Protests will be considered on matters of rule application/interpretation and player eligibility. No protests concerning the judgment of game officials or IM Supervisors will be reviewed.
1. Officials’ decisions, interpretations, judgments, or applications of rules may not be protested beyond the limits imposed by the rules for the game or event (i.e., prior to the next snap, prior to the next pitch, prior to the next serve, prior to the ball becoming live following the call in question, etc.)
2. Protests based upon the rule interpretation/application must be made on the field of play immediately following the incident in question. It is necessary for the team captain to inform the official that they wish to protest a call. The official will summon the Intramural Supervisor to the field/court.
3. The IM Supervisor, game officials, and both captains will then meet to discuss the situation. This meeting will take place away from the other players. The IM Supervisor will make a ruling about the call in question. This ruling will dictate the manner in which the game will be finished. This ruling is the final ruling on the subject at the field/court.
4. If the captain still wants to protest the ruling of the IM Supervisor, s/he must notify the IM Supervisor that they will be playing the remainder of the game under protest.
5. The IM Supervisor and officials will then fill out an Intramural Sports Protest Form indicating the exact time, ball location, possession, score, etc. of the contest at the time of the call in question.
6. The IM Supervisor will give the team captain a blank Intramural Sports Protest Form. The captain must fill out this form and return it to the Supervisor before the end of that sport/activity on that day.
7. The game will resume, under protest, after the IM Supervisor and the officials have finished their copy of the Intramural Sports Protest Form.
8. If the team captain fails to turn in their copy of the Intramural Sports Protest Form by the end of the activity for that day, the protest will be considered invalid.
9. Eligibility protests must be made before the contest in question is completed. Any team protesting player eligibility will have their roster checked as well. NOTE: All players should be prepared to show their Creighton ID or KFC Membership Card in case of a question regarding the eligibility of a player.
10. IM Supervisors will make a ruling about the player eligibility. If the captain does not agree with this ruling, s/he may fill out a formal Intramural Sports Protest Form. This form must be returned to the IM Supervisor before the end of the contest in question.
11. A team must have a representative in attendance at the Captain's Meeting in order to make an official protest.
12. A game in which a protest concerning rule interpretation/application is upheld will be replayed from the point in the game where the protest was made (including replaying the protested play or correcting an official's action). If it is not possible to obtain the necessary information to replay the remainder to the game from that point, the game will be replayed from the preceding division in the game.
13. A game in which a protest concerning player eligibility is upheld will result in a forfeit for the team using an ineligible participant.
