Recall that the purpose of the Vocation Institutes Program is to build a community of staff and faculty who desire to increase their understanding of vocation-as-calling and who are willing to incorporate this increased understanding in their daily service at Creighton University. Applicants should write a brief explanation that includes the following:
- Name, position at Creighton, and contact information.
- Your current understanding of vocation and how it relates to your work at Creighton (1 page max). Your response should answer the question of how you would define vocation?
- How you might add to the community of staff and faculty who participate and how you expect to benefit from your participation (1/2 page max). Your response should indicate both your openness to the goals of this program and how you intend to help others benefit from your participation.
- Description of significant personal and professional activities during 2007 (1 page max). Your response should indicate any reasons why 2007 would be an especially good time for you to participate in this program or any significant issues that could influence your ability to fully participate this year.
- Letter of support from your supervisor (department chair for faculty). This letter may be sent under separate cover or with your application packet.
- Information regarding your tenure at Creighton. This information should include the following:
- length of employment at Creighton
- past positions at Creighton and length of service in these positions
- professional development opportunities you have experienced while employed at Creighton, including any training, certification, or conferences for which Creighton has paid. Make sure you indicate none if appropriate.
- your current job responsibilities at Creighton. Your current job responsibilities should include detailed information on both formal responsibilities and informal opportunities you have to influence/make decisions regarding policies, procedures, programs, etc. within your department/center.
