A Conference Series on Our Common Home

Laudato Si’ and the U.S. Catholic Church: A Conference Series on Our Common Home” is the first of three biennial conferences to convene, equip, and inspire current and potential leaders who can more deeply integrate Laudato Si’ and its climate change teaching into the U.S. Catholic Church.

Laudato Si: On the Care of Our Common HomeThe conference will open on June 27 with a keynote address by Most Reverend Robert W. McElroy, Bishop of San Diego. June 28 will feature plenary talks on Spirituality & Conversion and What Is Happening to Our Common Home. June 29 will feature plenary talks on Love in Action and Climate Justice. The conference will conclude on June 29 with a keynote address from a leading U.S. Catholic woman religious.

Following each plenary, conference participants will attend topical breakout sessions to discuss how to better integrate Laudato Si’ into eight areas of U.S. Catholic life: Adult Faith Formation, Advocacy, Creation Care Teams, Energy Management, Higher Education, Liturgy, School Education and Young Adult Ministry. Each session will be guided by a team of experienced leaders, including those from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and Catholic Relief Services. Following the conference, teams of leaders will work with Creighton University and Catholic Climate Covenant to develop and implement new ministry-specific resources and initiatives.

The conference is largely by invitation only; however a limited number of spots are available by application.

Registration and Accommodations

Registration for those selected to attend the conference is $125 and includes on-campus dining as well as housing in Creighton University residence halls. Those who wish may make reservations at the Fairfield Inn Omaha Downtown using the negotiated conference rate ($99 + tax / night). Conference guests are responsible for all hotel costs and must book by June 5.
