"Stay Connected: Ethics and Business in Asia"

With support from Creighton's Non-Western Committee, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business and the Werner Institute for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution at Creighton School of Law, the Asian World Center celebrates Creighton’s 4th Annual Non-Western Culture Week from April 7 to 11, 2008. The theme of this event is “Stay Connected: Ethics and Business in Asia." Major programs include: a public talk by Dr. Thomas Jackson of University of Hawaii entitled “Getting Connected, Staying Connected, Philosophy in Community: The Ultimate ‘Wireless’ Connection;" a roundtable discussion on “Doing Business in Asia” by professors from Creighton's Law School, College of Business, College of Arts and Sciences, as well as business executives from Omaha-based companies, such as Werner Enterprises.

The keynote event takes an ethical look at China’s thirsty for energy and its environmental crisis. The event provides a chance to reflect the views on this important issue from both Chinese and American perspectives. Two University professors from China’s Hohai (River and Sea) University are invited to be the  keynote speakers.

The 4th Non-Western Culture Week also presents a week-long display of books on ethics and books focusing on business ethics with particular emphasis on Asian economies (by Mr. Nathan Morgan from the Reinert-Alumni Memorial Library).

Finally, with cooperation from Creighton University Dining Services, Dr. Maorong Jiang, Director of Asian World Center, will host a live cooking show with a causal talk entitled “Ethical Inquiry into Chinese Recipes: A Casual Talk with Live Cooking Show."

The events are all free and open to the public. For a detailed listing of events, please see below.
