
| Professor Zhang Ming 张明 Associate Dean & Professor, Industrial Design College Specialty: Industrial Design
Prof. Zhang Ming received his education in industrial design at Southern Yangze University, and in 2004 received his Master's from Southeast University. He is now pursuing his PhD at Nanjing Arts Institute.
Prof. Zhang has taught industrial design at NAI, focusing on product form design, concept design, development and hand drawing, and has also supervised MA students.
Prof. Zhang has published six papers in important magazines/journals throughout China, including “A Brief Study of Model Making in an Environment Arts Course,” “Digital Survival and Industrial Design Education,” and “Minimalism in Industrial Design from the Point of View of Cultural Minds and Psychology.” He's also published several books including “The Handbook for Entertainment Place Design of Modern Interior Design.”
He has also been the leader of several important design projects: “Research on the Development of Creative Industrial Design Education of Jiangsu Province” and “ Research on the Sustainability of Straw’s Application in Industrial Design.”
A list of awards include: Excellent Prize, 6th International Bicycle Design Competition Second Place, 2008 Public Telephone Booth Design for Beijing Olympics Special Prize, 2003 Car Stylings International Car Design Competition Excellent Prize, 10th National Arts Competition

| Ms. Chen Jiajia 陈嘉嘉 Lecturer and Artist, Industrial Design College Specialty: Industrial Design
Ms. Chen Jiajia began her undergraduate study of industrial design at NAI from 1997—2001. She then continued her education at Southern Yangze University and Politecnico di Milano in Italy. Since 2009, she has been pursuing her PhD in Sociology in order to study people’s behavior from the point of view of design.
Ms. Chen specializes in industrial design education and research. She has given lecturers on product innovative system design, design research on the modern Chinese lifestyle, design communication and product engineering.
She has published 10 papers on design in Chinese magazines including “Digital Toy Design for Youth from its Growth,” and “A Comparison between Temples and Churches during the Guomingdang Period in Nanjing." Ms. Chen has also cooperated with Prof. Zhang Ming in publishing the book “Product Design Practice.”
Her involvement in design projects at home and abroad include: “Entertainment Function Design for Full-Touchscreen Handsets for Samsung,” “ Mobile Phone Design for Cambridge Xiamen Electronics,” “Optical Glasses Design for Fantasia”, “Outdoor Facilities for Kids for Anhui Tianmai Plastics Co.,” “Outdoor Facilities for Zhongshan Road of Wuxi,” and “Overnight Bag Design System for Economy Class for Dester, Belguim.”
Ms. Chen cooperated with her team in receiving first prize in the 2002 Shanon International Design Competition. |

| Ms. Yang Xiaoli 杨骁丽 Artist, Industrial Design College Specialty: Industrial Design
Ms. Yang Xiaoli received her bachelor's degree from Shangdong Arts and Crafts College in 2003. She continued for her MA study at Nanjing Arts Institute then in 2007, she started her PhD study in material design.
Ms. Yang has published 3 papers, including “Development from Inheritance.” She has been involved in many design projects such as “Research on High-end Mobile Phone and Media Players” and “Chinese Traditional Product Design Research.”
Ms. Yang's “Chimes—MP3” was awarded 1st Industrial Design Competition of Jiangsu Province and she has got the excellent prize of “BBK MP3 Product Design Competition.” Her work “Portable Iron Machine” was displayed at the 1st Shanghai International Creative Design Industry Exhibition in 2007. In 2008, her work “ Straw Product Design” was awarded third prize by the Industrial Designers’ Association of Jiangsu Province. She also was involved in the design project for the 2007 Shanghai Imagination Competition and Public Facilities Design for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Ms. Yang is currently involved in research on “Chinese Traditional Product Design” and “Straw Product Design.” |

| Ms. Xing Lu 邢璐 Musician, College of Music Specialty: Erhu (二胡) Instrument
Ms. Xing Lu attended high school at the China Conservatory of Music before continuing her study in the Folk Music Department at the Central Conservatory of Music under the guidance of famous musicians and performers Prof. Tian Zaili and Prof. Yan Jiemin. During this time, Ms. Xing learned the Banhu (板胡) instrument from Prof. Li Heng and the Guqin (古琴) instrument from Prof. Zhao Jiazhen. She is a member of the Erhu Professional Committee of Chinese Folk Orchestra as well as the Chinese Erhu Musicians Association.
Recent Awards and Honors include: -2009 Excellence Award of CCTV Folk Instrument TV Competition -2008 Excellence Award of Third National music competitions held by the Culture Bureau. -First Prize from the Erhu Young Professional Group of China National Music Competition -2006 Award for Outstanding Performance, Erhu Competition of China International Art Festival and the New Works Competition - 2005 Excellence Award of "Recorded Cup" China International Music Competition
Ms. Xing has served as the principal player in the "Music China Youth Chinese Orchestra of the Central Conservatory" and has been honored by the CCTV music channel "Fenghua Chinese Music" and the opera channel "Guo Bayin" for her solo Erhu (二胡) instrument shows. She has performed solo for the Xuzhou government of Jiangsu Province and has held solo concerts in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, and at the Central Conservatory of Music Concert Hall. Her concerts have been widely recorded and published on DVD.
In April 2009, she held her third solo recital at the Nanjing Arts Institute Concert Hall. In recent years as a soloist, she has visited many countries and regions to participate in international music festivals. |

| Ms. Tong Ying 童莹 Musician, College of Music Specialty: Pipa (琵琶) Instrument
Ms. Tong Ying began to play the pipa (琵琶) instrument when she was 6 years old. At seven, she was chosen to act as a soloist in the Children’s Palace Orchestra of Nanjing. At 8, she joined the Little Red Flower troupe and became a student of Prof. Ke Ming of the Nanjing Arts Institute. In 2003, she began her further study under the guidance of Prof. Liu Shi and received a master's degree in Chinese Instruments and Education. In June 2006, Ms. Tong was invited to teach at the Nanjing Arts Institute and its senior college.
Ms. Tong has been awarded numerous honors including the “Three-good Student Award” and “Excellent Student Leader.” She has also won scholarships for “Excellent Student" and was awarded the "National Prize" scholarship.
Ms. Tong's recent awards include: -2005 Golden Prize, Trio Group, 1st Students’ Arts Festival of Jiangsu Province -2004 Bronze Prize, Pipa Competition, 4th National Golden Bell Music Competition -2003 Golden Prize, Youth Group, National Pipa Competition
An excellent Pipa player, Ms. Tong has been invited to give performances across China. She gave two solo performances for the 80th & 90th Anniversaries of the Nanjing Arts Institute and has traveled to the USA, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Moscow to give Pipa performances. |
