"Composer Koji Nakano will discuss his current interest in Asian traditional music and its influence on his compositional style. The composer will play excerpts of recordings from his recent works inspired by Japanese traditional music, philosophies and spirituality.
A composer and an educator, Dr. Nakano was named Composer in Residence for the Harumatsuri (Spring Celebration Festival) at the United Nations School International Theater in the Spring of 2008 and composed two commissioned pieces for the closing ceremony in New York City. He received his Ph.D. in composition from the University of California at San Diego." |
