Since September 11, 2001, UNO’s Center for Afghanistan Studies headed by Dr. Thomas E. Gouttierre has been a central source for expertise on the culture, politics, history, and geography of Afghanistan. Dr. Thomas E. Gouttierre, director of the Center, plays an integral role in educating the public about Afghanistan. As director, Gouttierre has been sought out by national and international news media as an expert in Afghanistan studies. The AWC Distinguished Lecture/Werner Institute Speaker Series aims to bring leading scholars and prominent individuals to visit Creighton University and share their insights and experiences with scholars, policy makers, business leaders and the general public.
