Mary Ann Danielson came to Creighton in 1989 as the Associate Director of Forensics; in the early 1990s, she directed the forensics program and completed her doctoral studies. From 1997-2005, she served as the department chair. She currently serves as the Associate Vice President for Academic Excellence and Assessment. Danielson, a Professor of Communication Studies, has been recognized with Creighton Universityís College of Arts and Sciencesí Deanís Awards for service in 1993, for excellence in teaching in 1995, and for professional excellence/ outstanding service in 2004.     

Her areas of expertise include organizational communication, leadership, training and development, assessment of student learning, critical thinking, and conflict resolution.  Research interests extend beyond critical thinking, classroom pedagogy, and assessment measures to include employability skills and organizational entry and socialization experiences. Publications include seven chapters in an edited volume, 11 journal articles, 14 articles in a proceedings or limited publication venue, and over 45 refereed conference papers.  

As an engaged scholar, Danielson remains professionally active; activities include serving as a consultant evaluator for the Higher Learning Commission and an organizational consultant, workshop leader/facilitator, and keynote speaker for a variety of campus, community, regional, and national organizations. Additionally, she has held or currently holds leadership positions within national, regional, and state associations and across the college/university.
