Q. What if I need to get a passport?

Q. Do I need to know Chinese or take a Chinese class to go on the trip?

No. Anyone, regardless of language ability, can come on the trip. In fact, the majority of students who come on the trip don't know any Chinese at first.

Q. What is a visa, why do I need it and how do I apply to get one?

Once everyone has a passport, we will apply for our Chinese visas as a group. (A visa is a stamp which will go in your passport granting you permission to enter a country for a given amount of time. China requires every visitor to have a passport with a Chinese visa). Everyone also needs to fill out the visa application form. You will need a passport before you are able to complete this form. Below is some advice for filling out your visa application correctly:
