EDU 520 Foundations of Catholic Education (3 credits)
This course is designed to trace the history and philosophy of Catholic education as it has evolved through the centuries. The focus will be on the concept of "Catholic Identity" of schools as Church leaders and scholars throughout history have interpreted it. Church documents will serve as the main text for the course. The culmination will be a project whereby students apply theory to educational practice in the Catholic school setting.

EDU 602 Fundamentals of Catholicism for Educators (3 credits)
This course provides an introduction to the teachings of the Catholic Church in these areas: creed, liturgy and Sacraments, Christian morality, Christian prayer, Catholic social teaching, and Scripture. This course will apply Catholic Church teaching to issues that are pertinent to educators in K-12 Catholic schools today.

EDU 606 Leadership in Catholic Schools: Strategic and Political Domains (3 credits)
This course addresses the strategic and political dimensions of Catholic educational leadership. Topics include strategic planning, goverance, networks and coalitions, political advocacy, funding, public relations and marketing. This course stresses innovation, collaboration, and advocacy in positioning schools for the future. Course assignments emphasize practical application of theory and best practices.

EDU 603 Leadership in Catholic Schools: Educational, Spiritual, amd Managerial Domains (3 Credits)
Designed for both practicing and aspiring administrators, this course will address the educational, spiritual, and managerial domains of leadership in Catholic schools. Points of focus will be: (1) to learn how to provide educational leadership using the Catholic mission of the school as a focus and integrating principle, (2) to learn how the principal can be the builder of a faith community in the school, (3) to learn about Catholic school finance and development including strategic planning, (4) to learn about school governance models, and (5) to explore legal issues as they apply to the Catholic school setting including school safety issues.
