DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
HEALTH FITNESS ASSESSMENT: This two part evaluation will determine your aerobic capacity (efficiency of your heart and lungs), body composition (estimates % fat), muscular endurance and flexibility. The initial appointment will involve discussing your personal fitness goals and performing the health and fitness assessment. The second appointment will include an explanation of your fitness testing results and the development of an individualized exercise program.
EXERCISE PROGRAM & EQUIPMENT ORIENTATION: Our instructors will give you the best possible demonstration of fitness equipment showing proper technique and adjustments for each exercise.
PERSONAL TRAINING: Personal Training will give you that one-on-one, individual attention that you need to set up an incredible exercise program, designed just for you! Our personal trainers will guide you through an initial screening and evaluation, exercise prescription and safe and effective workout. Each session will consist of a one hour workout with a Personal Trainer selected especially for you. Your first consultation is FREE!
BOD POD (AIR DISPLACEMENT) The Bod Pod is an Air Displacement Plethysmograph which uses whole-body densitometry to estimate body composition. Bod Pod Assessment is considered a "gold standard" and is a highly accurate method to estimate body composition. The tester will discuss your results and offer recommendations based on your percent body fat.
HYDROSTATIC OR UNDERWATER WEIGHING (UWW): Underwater weighing is a well-established, reliable and valid procedure (also considered a "gold standard"). You will be tested in our state-of-the-art hydrostatic weighing tank. During this test, your percent body fat will be calculated using regression equations that include body weight measured on a scale in the lab and measured underwater. This test also requires that you perform a pulmonary function test (forced vital capacity). The tester will discuss your results and offer recommendations based on your percent body fat.
SKINFOLD ASSESSMENT: Your body composition will be assessed by measuring the thickness of a skinfold (using a skinfold caliper), which involves grasping a fold of skin and fat away from the underlying muscle at specific sites for males/females. The values obtained from your test are compared to typical values for men/women. This assessment includes your percentage of body fat and general recommendations.
MAXIMAL OXYGEN UPTAKE: Individuals that are training for aerobic competition may choose the maximal oxygen uptake assessment. This test requires a pre-screeing prior to scheduling, please ask the lab staff for more information.
