Dr. Sue Crawford

PROFESSOR SUE CRAWFORD

 

Dr. Sue Crawford is a Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Creighton University.  She joined the faculty in 1995.  She also teaches courses in the Health Administration and Policy Program and is on faculty for the Creighton Doctor of Education in Leadership (EdD) program.  Her Ph.D. training at Indiana University focused on American Government and Public Policy with a concentration in Public Management.

 

Dr. Crawford?s research interests include: the roles of religious institutions in public policy, tools for analyzing the impact of rules and norms on behavior, and the roles of government and other community institutions in facilitating health information access in rural communities.  She holds faculty positions in the Rabbi Myer and Dorothy Kripke Center for the Study of Religion and Society and the Center for Health Services Research and Patient Safety, both at Creighton University.  Her research includes a co-authored book on women clergy in politics (University of Alabama Press), various book chapters, and articles in The American Political Science Review, State and Local Government Review, Nonprofit and Volunteer Sector Quarterly, Journal of Religion and Society, Politics & Religion and the Journal of Public Affairs Education. 

 

At Creighton, Dr. Crawford currently serves on the University Rank and Tenure Committee, the College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Senate, and the College of Arts and Sciences Core Revision Committee.  She regularly writes daily reflections for Creighton?s On-Line Ministry. Outside of Creighton, she has served in volunteer consulting roles for the City of LaVista, the City of Omaha, Women?s Fund Inc., Holy Name School, and Senator Chuck Hagel?s Health Care Reform Subcommittee.  She volunteers in the community through her congregation (New Life Baptist Church, Bellevue) and through Bellevue Central Elementary PTA.  She recently served as a mentor through Partnership for Our Kids.

 

Dr. Crawford lives in Bellevue Nebraska with her husband (David Crawford) and two sons (Nate and Philip).  David Crawford works in the Creighton University Archives.
