Political Science Major with Legal Studies Specialization

The following are the requirements for the Political Science Major with Legal Studies Specialization.

General Course Core

Students must complete each of the following:

  • PLS121 American Government and Politics
  • PLS215 Comparative Political Systems
  • PLS310 Political Science Research Methods
  • PLS591 Senior Research Seminar (Fall term only)

Legal Studies Core

  • PLS320 Judicial Process
  • PLS337 Politics of Constitutional Law
  • PLS367 Theory of Law
  • PLS537 International Law

Area Requirements

Three credit in either International Relations or Comparative Politics subfield.

Six credits in either American Government/Politics or Public Policy/Law subfled


Requisite courses for legal studies track:  Students will select 6 credits from the following:  BUS201, BUS201, ECO203, ECO205, JRM529, PHL440, PLS356, PSY363, SOC321, SOC423. 

Legal Studies Elective (1 course chosen from PLS437, PLS438, PLS/HIS372, PSY333, SOC321, SOC323)
