Laura Heinemann is interested in medical anthropology, kinship, and the anthropology of science, technology, and medicine, as well as in health care, family and social support in health and illness, and hospital social work. She currently is a doctoral candidate for a Joint PhD in Anthropology and Social Work from the University of Michigan. During her term as a Visiting Scholar at Creighton University, Laura will be completing her NSF-funded research project entitled, “Transplanting Kinship – Organ Transplantation, Kinship, and Daily Life in the U.S.,” and writing her dissertation.
