Careers in Native American Studies

A degree in Native American Studies gives students an initial preparation for work in such fields as tribal resource management, tribal government, human rights and indigenous issues, human services, employment services, education, and as a consultant for Native programming. Graduates of the Native Studies program also are prepared for graduate studies in Native studies, anthropology, medicine and indeed any field in which service to Native communities is a component. Creighton University is situated uniquely in Indian Country and is in driving distance of the Santee Tribe, Ponca Tribe, Winnebago Tribe, Omaha Tribe, Lakota Tribes of western South Dakota, Mesquakie of Iowa, Sac & Fox and Potawatomi Tribes of Kansas as well as Urban Natives in Omaha, Lincoln and Sioux City, Iowa. Creighton also has extensive contacts with its professional schools on the Winnebago and Omaha reservations.
