Barbara Harris, Ph.D.

Dr. Harris begins her 17th year at Creighton in 2008 where she serves as the Field Practicum Coordinator for the Department of Social Work.  She has served on several community boards including Child Saving Institute, YWCA, Uta Hallee, Mammel Foundation Root-to-Fruit and Holy Name School and was a founding member of the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council. 

At the University level she served as Director for the Center for the Study of Children’s Issues, Chair of the Committee on the Status of Women and served on several committees regarding first year student experiences. 

Dr. Harris’ scholarly interests include integrating knowledge and practice in the field practicum setting and interprofessional collaborations in providing services to families and children.

Her courses include Children and Poverty in the United States, Family Violence and the Economic Status of Women.  She won the Mary Lucretia Creighton Award in 2001 and Outstanding Freshman/Sophomore Advising in 2003.
