Francis X. Origanti, Ph.D.

A native of India, I was born and brought up in Chennai, fourth largest city in India with a population of 7 million. After graduating with my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Loyola College in 1996, I went on to graduate with my Masters in Social Work from Loyola College in 1998. For the next two years, I worked as a Social Worker at Malaysian Social Services—Child care and Adoption Centre, Christ Faith Home—community development centre, and at Britannia Industries as an Industrial Social Worker. I came to the United States in 2000 to get my Ph.D. in Social Work. I graduated in 2004 from the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. I have been an Assistant Professor in the department of Social Work at Creighton University since Fall 2004. My primary teaching areas include Human Behavior and the Social Environment (I &II), Social Welfare Policy, Introduction to Social Welfare, Economics Politics and Social Welfare. I have developed an online course (HBSE II) that was offered completely online to students in Omaha and for students in the study abroad program. I am also a Freshman Seminar Advisor.
