Emergency & After Hours Care
The following information is provided for students to help them seek quality care in the event of an emergency or when the Center for Health & Counseling is closed.
The Center for Health and Counseling’s hours of operation during the academic year are:

STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES
MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
Call Public Safety at 2911. When a Public Safety Dispatcher is notified of any potentially life-threatening emergency (severe bleeding, difficulty breathing, heart attack symptoms, etc), he or she immediately calls for a rescue squad. At the same time, Public Safety Officers are notified of the situation by radio.
NON-EMERGENCY AFTER HOURS CARE FOR RESIDENCE HALL STUDENTS--HEALTH AIDES
Students living in residence halls who need non-emergency health care when the Center for Health & Counseling is closed should call Public Safety at 402-280-2104. A health aide will be notified and respond in person or by telephone to the request. The health aide has access to an on-call physician for medical consultation. A health aide is on duty during the academic year from 5:30pm to 9:00am.
AFTER-HOURS CLINICAL MANAGEMENT FOR STUDENTS call 444-4480 to reach the answering service.
AFTER HOURS CARE
Urgent care services are available at local urgent care centers. These centers have laboratory and x-ray services and can treat most acute illness and injury. Creighton University Medical Center's Emergency Department is conveniently located adjacent to the Creighton campus. Any after hours care received will be the financial responsibility of the student. COUNSELING SERVICES
MENTAL HEALTH EMERGENCIES
Counseling Services staff members are also available to clients on a walk-in basis during business hours, if needed. Emergency mental health services are provided during business hours by calling the Center for Health and Counseling at 280-2735 or Public Safety at 280-2911.

Lasting Hope Recovery Center is a local center for inpatient psychiatric services. The location is 415 S. 25th Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68131. To access psychiatric services call the 24 hour hotline: 717-HOPE (717-4673).
AFTER HOURS CARE
Students who need emergency mental health care when the Center for Health & Counseling is closed should call Public Safety at 280-2911 or the local police at 911.
