Congratulations on Being Accepted!

Here are some things you will need to know.

 

Acceptance Letter

     Once your application has been review and accepted, you will receive an email notifying you to look for a letter from the Dean of the Graduate School informing you of your acceptance.  Once you have opened the email containing your acceptance letter, you will receive a NewJay Email with your NET ID and instructions on how to activate your account at Creighton.  Your NET ID and password will give you access to your N.E.S.T. account, Creighton email account, and other things at Creighton. 

   

Registration Process

      You may register for a maximum of 7 credits per term.  Certificate students should take CSP 773 and CSP 780 their first summer.  Masters degree students may take any required or elective courses.  If you plan to earn both MA and Certificate at the same time, it is suggested you take the Certificate courses in the same term and the MA courses in other term.   You may begin registering for classes in early April. 

      You will find the list of courses offered in the NEST of the Creighton website.  New students should fill out a 2017 Registration form.  The CSP division is Graduate School.  You may leave Class/Type blank.   The CRN is the 5 digit Course Registration Number found in the NEST next to the course name. Term 1 is Section A.  Hrs refers to the number of credit hours.  Term 2 is Section B. Time is the time class starts: 8 am, 10 am, 1:30 pm or 3:30 pm.  You must sign the form at the bottom and return it to Mariana Miller or Colleen Hastings via email, fax, or postal mail.  

 

Paying your bill for classes, housing, and more

Creighton does not mail paper tuition statements.  You will find your tuition statement in your NEST account.  Payment is due by the first day of class each term you are enrolled.  Late fees will apply afterwards.  Students my submit payment online via NEST or in person at the Business Office located on first floor of Creighton Hall room 113, or by mail to:

Housing and Meals

     CSP students who live on campus stay in McGloin Hall which offers suite style living where two students share two bedrooms, a living area, and bathroom.  Sheets, towels, a pillow and a blanket are provided.  Kitchen facilities and coin-operated laundry machines are located in the building. Brandeis Hall is where the dining room is located.  You may purchase one of three meal plans or pay for individual meals separately.

     If you plan to stay on campus, you must fill out Summer Residence Hall Application which is done online.  Be sure to check Christian Spirituality Program.   If you know someone you would like to share a room with, please list their name on your registration.  Include any special needs also.  If you want a meal plan for the dining hall, please indicate that on the form.  You must sign page two of the application!  A $100 deposit is required for summer housing.  Return the signed form to the Department of Residence Life at Creighton.edu/residenceLife/Housing/summerHousing or mail to :

 Books

     There are two ways you can find out which books you need for your classes.  Go to the Creighton website and then NEST.  Click on schedule of courses.  At the bottom of each course you select, click on course materials to learn which book(s) are needed for the class.  You may also go to the Creighton FanAttic bookstore page of the Creighton website.  Enter the course to view the books you will need.   Depending on the class, you may also be required to purchase supplemental books or materials.  Your instructor will inform you on the first day of class if additional materials are required.  It is recommended that you place an order for books with the bookstore in advance of class for best availability.  You may also purchase them in person when you arrive on campus.  The Fan Attic Bookstore is located in Harper Center.

 

Immunizations

Creighton University has immunization requirements for all students registered for classes on campus to protect the health and well-being of our campus community. 

All Students (Attending classes on Campus)

Measles, Mumps, & Rubella (MMR)

2 doses MMR vaccine given after the 1st birthday and at least 30 days apart are required of all students born after 1957.

OR

Positive blood tests showing immunity for Measles, Mumps and Rubella are accepted. History of illness does not meet this requirement.

A registration hold will be placed on students who are not compliant.

International Students

       Must meet requirements for ALL STUDENTS (see above).

If living on campus, must also meet requirements for ALL RESIDENT STUDENTS.

       Tuberculosis Screening

Screening will be done upon arrival to campus unless documentation is provided of a negative PPD skin test, done within the past 12 months.  *PPD skin test is required regardless of prior BCG vaccine. 

Students with a history of a Positive PPD:  o Chest X-ray done within the past 12 months in the US.

 

New/Transfer students:

  • View vaccination requirements found on Student Health Services page of the Creighton website.
  • Vaccination data must be filed by July 1st prior to moving into residential housing (Mail scantron form provided by the University).

Arriving on Campus

McGloin Hall is located between Burt Street and Cass Street.  A campus parking lot is on the north side of building.  When you arrive, check in at the Front Desk on the south side of McGloin Hall on first floor.   When you enter through the north doors, go up the stairs to first floor.

 

Parking permits are required to park on campus.  You purchase parking permits from the Department of Public Safety, 2204 Burt Street, in the Walt Jahn building, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 7:00 pm.

 

Eppley Airport is just a few minutes from campus.  Taxi cabs are available to bring students to campus. 

 

ID Card

 

All students are issued a student ID card.  You will get your picture taken when you pick it up at Card Services located on the bottom floor of the Harper Center, room 1095, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. 

 

Your student ID card is used to gain access to buildings on campus when the doors are locked such as your residence hall, the student area of the parking garage on the west side of McGloin, and serves as your meal payment card if you purchase a meal plan.  You can load JayBucks onto your student ID card.  JaybBucks work like a prepaid debit card.  You can charge things on campus to your JayBucks account like printing copies, laundry machines, bookstore items, Fitness Center usage, and other purchases. 

 

Orientation

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION: Orientation for all new students will be held on the Sunday prior to the first day of classes of each term in Skutt Student Center from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.  All new students must attend one of these new student orientation sessions. 

 

SUNDAY EVENING EVENTS:  Vespers will be held at 5:30 pm at St. John's Church. All students are invited to attend a dinner to meet new and returning students.  You will receive an invitation and an RSVP reservation is needed so we know how many students to plan for.  Please watch your email.

 

MONDAY MORNING ORIENTATION: Orientation for all CSP students and faculty will be held on Monday morning, the first day of classes.  The 8:00 am classes will dismiss early and the 10:00 am classes will start late to accommodate the orientation held in the Skutt Student Center Ballroom.

 

Retreat

Have you attended an 8 day, silent retreat within the last three years?  Completion of an extended retreat is required for MA students before graduation. 

 

Certificate students must complete an 8 day, silent, directed retreat no more than three years before enrolling and preferably no later than the start of their first summer of courses, and absolutely before their second summer of courses. 

 

The Christian Spirituality Program Retreats (CSP) are held at the Creighton University Retreat Center near Griswold, Iowa and is the preferred retreat site for certificate and degree candidates.  Three CSP Retreats are held each year and are open to everyone, students and non-students alike.  Retreatants must submit a retreat registration form with the accompanying retreat fee.
