Purpose
Prepares participants to develop basic skills in conversational Spanish to improve interaction and delivery of care in situations where the primary language of the patient or coworker is Spanish.
Course Objectives
At the end of the course, the participant should be able to:
• Master basic vocabulary and the sounds of the Spanish alphabet
• Demonstrate correct pronunciation of basic conversation phrases
• Correctly utilize patient and professional commands in Spanish
• Compare Latino cultural orientation to the dominant U.S. culture
• Discuss Hispanic cultural attitudes toward death
• Describe holistic approach to health care for Hispanics
• Use common verbs and polite forms in idiomatic Spanish
• Use vocabulary appropriate to various health situations and settings
Registration Fee
The course fee is $395 per person includes 30 hours of instruction, textbook and all handouts.

Course Prerequisites
