As the parent of a high school student, you were used to having complete access to your student’s academic records through parent-teacher conferences and grade reports. In all probability, there was an open invitation to contact a teacher or principal whenever you had a question or concern.
In college, communication regarding academic performance, financial aid and billing is between the student and the university. However, as a parent, you need to know how things are going and you should know. It’s just that according to FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) the information must come from your son or daughter, not the University.
Creighton makes the sharing of information between parent and student very simple and easy. Your student can grant you access to grades, financial aid and billing information via his/her NEST account. After logging on to the account, the student should click on “New! Authorize your Parent or Others to View Your Information”.
Encourage your student to set this up at the start of the academic year. It’s the best way for you to follow academic as well as financial status.
