Academic Student Success and Retention is aptly named.  Simply put, the academic success and thus, the retention of our students is the goal of the Center.  Period.

Whatever help a student needs to be successful…we will try to provide.  No, we can’t write the papers or take the tests…but we can help the student figure out how to do these things better.

But its not all just about academics.  Creighton University wants students to thrive in every way - socially, spiritually, emotionally and physically.  The formula is simple:

to thrive = to stay = to graduate

Creighton is proud of its consistently strong retention rate for freshmen.  Over the past several years, Creighton has averaged 88% retention.  This far exceeds the national retention rate and is also higher than many private universities similar to Creighton.

For a detailed look at retention as well as graduation statistics, go to the University’s Fact Book prepared by the Office of Institutional Research and click on “Basic Statistics.”

Academic success and student retention are joined at the hip - you really can’t have one without the other!  While these offices used to exist in separate buildings on opposite sides of the campus, the construction of Harper Center, allowed us to physically join forces and create one office designed to meet the needs of students.  If we don’t know the answer within Academic Success and Retention, chances are we can connect the student with other folks who can help.

Heading the “retention” aspect of the CSSR is Mary Higgins, Assistant Vice President for Student Retention (pictured at right).  She promises to make a run at assisting with any issue that could get in the way of success, retention and ultimately graduation!  Email Mary or call her at 402-280-1212.
