A Course Podcast
There are several ways to use a podcast in your course design and the most obvious way is to use it to distribute lectures as study guides for students. It is common in medical schools for the lecture to be recorded and available to students. Many medical schools, including Creighton Medical, have adopted podcasting as an easy means of distributing lectures to students.
Discussion Questions
While lectures might not be the course content you want to send to your students, but instead send out course notes on topics that will be covered in the next class or test.
Interview or Guest Lecture
Providing content from outside the classroom, such as a guest lecturer can be made easier by recording an interview, or conversation and presenting it to the class as a podcast, reserving the classroom time for discussion.
A Group Podcast
Allowing students to take ownership of a podcast expands learning beyond textbooks and lectures and forces the student to engage the course materials in a more dynamic manner. A well structured enviornment and a clear understanding of the assessment process is needed to ensure the success of the podcast.
