Once the semester is over, please take some time to "close up shop." It doesn't take long and you'll really appreciate having taken the effort while the course experience is still fresh!

  1. Verify all student work is completed.
  2. Make your Blackboard course unavailable (Control Panel --> Settings --> Course Availability).
  3. Save your Blackboard Gradebook if desired (Control Panel --> Gradebook --> Download Grades).
  4. Save a final backup of your Blackboard Course (Control Panel --> Archive Course).
     a) Do NOT delete this; make a special folder on your computer for final course copies.
  5. Optional: Clean out student-specific information and content. This will facilitate preparation of this course for the next time you teach it.
     a) Remove students from roster (Control Panel --> Remove Users).
     b) Remove discussion boards, collaboration logs, etc.
     c) Clean out Gradebook.
  6. Evaluate the success of this Blackboard course:
     a) What was useful?
     b) What wasn't useful?
     c) What can be changed?
     d) How would you improve this course?
  7. Backup your cleaned Blackboard course (Control Panel --> Export Course (or Archive Course) one last time.

NOTE:
The course you just completed will remain on Blackboard for one full year and then be deleted. So a course that was completed at the end of Fall 2004 will be deleted at the end of Fall 2005.
