Undergraduate Scholarships

SURF Program

CURAS is pleased to release the application for the 2020 Summer Undergraduate Research and Creative Projects Fellowship (SURF) program. Students who are interested in pursuing ten weeks of full-time research in the summer of 2020 under the guidance of a faculty mentor are invited to apply for these awards.

CURAS administers several different fellowships as part of the Summer Undergraduate Research & Creative Project Program (SURF) Program. Each entails a student stipend, supply funds, and faculty honoraria, and is designed to support 10 weeks of full-time summer research under the guidance of a Creighton faculty member. Calls for applications typically occur every November, with proposals due early February. The different kinds of scholarships are as follows:

  • College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Summer Undergraduate Research Scholarships (Sponsored by the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and open to students in the College of Arts & Sciences)
  • Dr. and Mrs. Randolph Ferlic Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (Made possible by a generous donation from Dr. and Mrs. Randy Ferlic and friends and open to students in the College of Arts & Sciences undertaking research in the fields of atmospheric science, biology, chemistry, neuroscience, environmental science, physics, and mathematics)
  • Honors Program Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (sponsored by the Director of the Honors Program and open to members of the Honors Program)
  • History Department Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (Made possible by a generous donation from a History alumnus and open to students who have declared a major or minor in History)
  • CURAS Director's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (Made possible by a generous donation from a Creighton family, open to all undergraduates undertaking research in the fields of atmospheric science, biology, chemistry, neuroscience, environmental science, physics, and mathematics)
  • Clare Boothe Luce Summer Undergraduate Research Scholarship (Made possible by the Clare Boothe luce National foundations, open to female sophomore and juniors majoring in biology, chemistry, energy science (B.S.), environmental science, mathematics, neuroscience and physics who do not intend to pursue a career in medicine.)*
  • Heider College of Business Dean's Summer Undergraduate Research Scholarships (Sponsored by the Dean of the Heider College of Business and open to students in the Heider College of Business)

Student Travel Grants

COVID 19 Update: As of March 16th, all University-sponsored travel has been suspended. In line with University policy, CURAS is suspending travel grants until the restrictions on University travel have been lifted.

CURAS is pleased to offer support to undergraduate researchers who have been accepted to present their research/creative work at an event. These small grants offer of support. The Travel Grant application and full details can be found here.
