Dr. Kelsey is a native of Newell, Iowa and graduated from Newell-Providence High School in 1969. He received his undergraduate and dental training from Creighton University, graduating in 1976 with a DDS degree. Following graduation, he entered into private practice in Omaha, Nebraska and participated in the educational program of the School of Dentistry on a part-time basis. In 1979, he joined the full-time faculty of the School of Dentistry as an Assistant Professor of Operative Dentistry. In 1990, he was made Professor of Operative Dentistry and in 1994 he was appointed Chair of that department. While a member of the Department of Operative Dentistry, Dr. Kelsey was actively engaged in course management, research, and continuing education presentations. He also served as a consultant on operative dentistry to the National Board Test Construction Committee for the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations and continues to be an article review consultant for several refereed dental journals. In January of 1999, he was appointed Assistant Dean for Clinical Services / Director of Clinics and in August of that same year, he was made Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs. He was promoted to his current position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in 2001.
Dr. Kelsey is married to the former M. Nan Kersenbrock of O’Neill, Nebraska. They have three children: Patrick, Matthew and Kaitlin.
