Types of Gifts

SUSTAINING GIFTS

Sustaining gifts sustain the University by providing flexible funds that allow Creighton University to excel and constantly improve for our students, furthering our Jesuit, Catholic mission. Such gifts afford the University the ability to respond to exceptional opportunities as they arise, including: providing scholarships for students who otherwise could not attend Creighton; funding innovative academic initiatives; updating research laboratories; attracting and retaining respected faculty; helping Creighton University create an environment for faith in action, and more. Sustaining gifts can be designated for general University use, or for a specific school or college.

Sustaining gifts are especially valuable to meet the ever-changing, and often unexpected, challenges of the future. Sustaining gifts are put to immediate use, and help hold the line on tuition.

For more information about making a sustaining gift, please call (800) 334-8794 or view the Giving Options page.

Reunion Class Giving

Each year, members of the 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th and 30th reunion classes celebrate their milestones by giving collective class gifts to Creighton University. Reunion class gifts help today’s students and ensure that they are prepared for professional distinction, ethical leadership, and involved citizenship. Every reunion gift, no matter the size, sustains the University. Reunion gifts make a statement about the value alumni place on their Creighton education and the impact it has had on their success.

If you are celebrating a reunion or would like more information about your reunion class gift, please call (800) 334-8794 or email reuniongiving@creighton.edu. Visit us at http://giving.creighton.edu/classgift.

Student Giving

Student giving benefits Creighton by providing support for the scholarships, academic programs, and student life programs that make the Creighton experience unique. Each and every gift from a current student helps maintain the opportunities available at Creighton and supports the mission of the University, which is central to every student experience. Students can, and do, make a difference in Creighton’s future.

ENDOWMENT GIFTS

An endowment gift will “live on” forever at Creighton University. Your gift can establish a new endowment fund, or add to an existing endowment fund.

Minimum support levels for endowments have been established to guarantee that income from the funds will be adequate to achieve the benefactor’s intent both today and in the future. Additional gifts to endowed funds may be made at any time and in any amount.

Endowment for people and programs—student scholarships, faculty support and innovative educational initiatives—is a priority of Creighton University.

If you are interested in learning more about how to make a thoughtful investment to support endowments and programs, please contact Rich McCormick, Senior Director of Major Gifts at (402) 280-3483.

LEGACY/PLANNED GIFTS

Planned gifts build on the legacy of Creighton University's founding family.

The University owes its heritage to the foresight of Mary Lucretia Creighton – widow of Omaha pioneer Edward Creighton – who left $100,000 in her will to establish a college in memory of her husband.

Throughout the years, many individuals have been inspired by the same ideals and have chosen to build on the Creighton family’s foundation. Regardless of the size of your estate, what has been accumulated is a testimony to your life, your hard work, your central values and commitments. What is transferred to the next generation, and how it is done, can accurately reflect your vision and goals.

To learn more about including Creighton University in your estate plan, contact Steven Scholer, J.D., Sr. Philanthropic Advisor, or Robert Skrydlak, Associate Director of Estate and Trust Services, at 402-280-2885 or 800-334-8794.

All individuals who notify the University of a deferred gift, naming Creighton as a beneficiary, are eligible for membership in the Creighton Heritage Society.
