Campaign Off to a Great Start
Campaign chairman pleased by tremendous response
In December 2005, Creighton University President the Rev. John P. Schlegel, S.J., publicly announced the most ambitious capital campaign in the University's history -- Willing to Lead: THE CAMPAIGN FOR CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY. The campaign seeks to raise $350 million by December 2008.
As a Creighton alumnus (BSBA '71, JD '73) and national chair of the campaign, I am pleased by the tremendous response of fellow alumni and friends. Thanks to your generous support, we are well on the way to our goal.
Fr. Schlegel and the University leadership have a clear vision for the future. As Fr. Schlegel has articulated, this is our moment: Creighton's opportunity to secure its place as one of the finest Jesuit, Catholic institutions of higher education in the United States.
A strategic course has been set. This campaign aligns private funding with university priorities and major initiatives - through endowments, capital investments and ongoing operating support.
The responsibility for shaping the Creighton of tomorrow rests with each of us. Gifts of all sizes are essential for Creighton to further its mission of academic excellence in the Jesuit tradition - educating women and men for and with others.
Thanks to a very talented University Relations staff, a new culture of philanthropy is being embraced across the Creighton community - one that will sustain the gift flow required to continually fund Creighton's mission and aspirations for the future.
The campaign message is now being shared across the country, with recent events in Naples, Fla.; Palm Springs, Calif.; Los Angeles and San Francisco. Future trips are planned for Minneapolis, New York, Chicago, Denver, Dallas and Phoenix. At each step, enthusiasm for this campaign and for the vision outlined by Fr. Schlegel continue to grow.
Thank you for your current and future support. For more information, or to contribute or discuss a planned contribution to the campaign, please call (800) 334-8794 or (402) 280-2740.
