Your BLUE Password

When you become an employee or a student at Creighton University, and are assigned a NetID and a one-time activation password.  Through the activation process you will set your Blue password (also used for CUmail). You should always protect your password, it is the key to your identity at Creighton.

Your One-time activation password

You will receive a letter or email from the Admissions Office or HR welcoming you to Creighton, this letter will contain your NetID and the One-time activation password, as well as instructions on activating your Creighton account.  The One-time password is just that, it is only good one time for activating your account.  Account activation will create a "forgotten password" profile which will allow you to provide predefined answers to random questions to reset your password if it is ever forgotten, as well as allowing you to set your Blue password.  The Blue password along with your NetID will get you into email, Creighton's learning management system, NEST and other academic applications.

Account Activation

Before you can log onto any Creighton computer systems, you will first need to activate your account and set your initial password.  You can do this by going to: http://ami.creighton.edu and clicking “Activate Account” from the menu on the right.  You will need to enter your NetID and one-time password, along with your date of birth.  You will then be prompted to provide answers to three security questions of your choice.  You will also need to provide an alternate (non-Creighton) email address, and optionally a phone number capable of receiving text messages.  You will then be able to select your password that you will use when logging onto your Creighton email and other Creighton resources.

Passwords must meet the following guidelines:
-Minimum of 8 characters
-Must contain at least three of the following
                -Upper case letters
                -Lower case letters
                -Numbers
                -Non-alpha-numeric characters.

NEVER SHARE YOUR PASSWORDS WITH ANYONE.  NO ONE AT CREIGHTON WILL EVER ASK YOU FOR YOUR PASSWORD!!!

Your BLUE password will expire

BLUE passwords are set to expire at 180 day intervals. Two weeks before expiration, you will receive an e-mail indicating that your password is about to expire. In addition, if you log on to a Creighton Windows computer during that period, you will be prompted to change your password.

If you do not change your password before it expires, it will become inactive, and you will have to reset it. Follow the directions below.

Forgotten your BLUE password? Reset it

If you have lost your password (or it has expired), you can reset it easily. You will need to visit the Account Management Interface (AMI) web site, and click on "Reset BLUE Password". You will be asked for your NetID and answers to two of the security question you defined during account activation.  A verification code will be sent to our alternative email address or text device (whichever you specified during account activation).  You will need to retrieve this verification code, enter it into AMI and you will be allowed to reset your password.

If you have not created a security profile you will be prompted for your NetID and your ISO number. Both can be found on your Creighton ID Card (an example is posted at the AMI web site).  Your Blue password will be reset to the "doit@####" (where #### = last four digits of your SSN).

If you do not have a Creighton ID Card (and don't happen to know your 16-digit ISO number), please call the Service Desk at 280-1111.
