AD is the acronym and name we chose for our first implementation of Microsoft Active Directory. An Active Directory is a domain which is essentially like a community. You can access information and services if you are a member of the community or domain.

How do I know if I login to AD, BLUE or neither?

If you currently use Exchange for email and calendaring, you probably log in to BLUE.

There may be a few cases on campus where users still log into AD (the old Active Directory system). In that case, the login window of your PC will default to "AD" for the domain.

How do I check to see which domain I'm logging into?

You have the option of logging into a domain (i.e. AD, Blue, College of Business, etc) or you can log into your computer.

When you are logged into your computer if you press the Ctrl+Alt+Del keys the following window will appear. The section circled in yellow tells you what you logged into (i.e. a domain or the computer). The image below indicates that user Joe User, logged into the BLUE Domain using his NetID of jxu12345.
