BlueLine Grades to Banner
Publishing Grades from the BlueLine Gradebook
Show me (short video demo)
DoIT has added a customization to BlueLine which lets instructors publish midterm and final grades from their BlueLine gradebook directly to Banner. It is the currently calculated Overall grade in BlueLine that will be uploaded to Banner.
The process takes two steps:
- Publish your Midterm or Final grade
- Send the grades to Banner
Step 1: Publish Grades
This step is necessary to "lock in" the currently calculated grade from the BlueLine gradebook into an official letter grade.
- From the main BlueLine Gradebook page, click the link Publish Course Grades.
- Select the type of grade you are publishing, Midterm or Final, and then click Go.
- The next screen will display the roster with the current calculated Overall grade from the BlueLine gradebook. Verify that the Grade to Publish column has the grade you wish to assign to each student and then click the Publish all displayed grades button.
Step 2. Send Grades to Banner
- Under the Manage tab in your course click the link Grades to Banner.
- Click the All checkbox in the BlueLine Midterm Grade column header and click Submit. Once grades have been sent, the Banner Midterm Grade column will be populated with the submitted grade.
- For Final grades the process is the same except you use the BlueLine Final Grade column.

Caveats and Limitations:
- Person publishing grades MUST be the primary instructor of record (as identified in Banner).
- The process works for courses hosted on https://blueline.creighton.edu, except for manually created courses or for manually enrolled students. It will NOT work for courses hosted on creighton.learntoday.info.
- Grades selected in BlueLine must meet the standards for that school/year in Banner (e.g. some schools limit the use of + and -).
- Cross-listed courses which are merged OUTSIDE of BlueLine will send grades to the appropriate course section in Banner (e.g. SRP 457A is cross-listed in Banner in PHL, HAP and SRP but is all loaded into BlueLine as HAP 457A).
