Creighton's Editors Manual

Welcome

You aren't supposed to put Welcome on your home page... I know this but really, I couldn't think of how better to put it.

This site is to supplement the training that Creighton University provides for content editors.  Does that mean others cannot use it?  Not at all.  Please take what you need from this site.

Suggestions, questions and feedback are always welcome.   Creighton Users if you have questions you can use our "Contact the webteam" form.

There are 3 sections to this manual - Typo3, Drupal, and Wordrpess.  It will become immediatly apparent that the Drupal and Wordpress sections don't have much in them... yet.  Stay tuned!

As we grow, so will the manual.  That said sometimes my project schedule keeps me from the manual.  So sometimes the updating will not occur as fast as I'd like.  So if you have any immediate questions please use our "Contact the webteam" form.

Need help immediately?

Jump to the "Help, How do I" pages.

Or explore topics like using Typo3's Clipboard with content, pages or files  Also check out Typo3's quick edit of content or page properties.  Or contact the Webteam if you have a question you cannot find the answer to.

We are currently on Typo3 version 4.4.  We will be shortly upgrading to version 4.5.  At that time this manual will be changing somewhat to accommodate the changes/new features in version 4.5.

We are currently on Drupal 7 (although there is one site in Drupal 6).  As this is one of the new sections in this manual (the other being Wordpress) there is little there yet.  Please check back often.

We are currently on Wordpress 3.2.1.  As with Drupal this section of the manual is new and will be filled in as I have time.

Access to Wordpress

Once you have a site you will be given a link to the user login page.  You will use your netid and blue password to gain access.  If you have any problems please contact the webteam (contact the webteam).

The address for the main Typo3 installation is http://typo3.creighton.edu/typo3 and the address for the Medical School's Typo3 installation is http://medschool.creighton.edu/typo3.

Why this site?

The basics of how to add and edit content is well covered in the training classes and is covered in the handout that is given during the training.  You can find the Typo3 documentation in both PDF and Doc format here: (pdf) (doc).

Basic training is also available in Bluetrain a DoIT training site offering training in many applications.  You can get to the training at: http://bluetrain.creighton.edu.

This site will give you some alternatives to the way you've usually done things as well as some new tips and tricks.  And maybe you can find a way that is more beneficial to the way you work, or you can pick up some helpful tips.

NOTE: the training does not at this time cover Drupal or Wordpress.  If you want to be trained in Drupal or Wordpress please contact the webteam
